1. a. (1) An estimated 500 Japanese, being elements of the 114th Regiment and one battalion, 148th Regiment of 18 and 56 Division, respectively, are strongly entrench in MYITKYINA town. Location of principal centers of enemy resistance as set forth by target number in intelligence annex.
(2) No enemy air units are based in the MYITKYINA Area, but he possesses the capability of putting 30 fighters over the area at any time.
b. (1) There are six regiments plus three battalions of American and Chinese troops deployed about the MYITKYINA perimeter. Front line positions as set forth in Intelligence Annex Number I.
(2) 12th Bomb Group (M), 3rd TAF, will support the effort of the Tenth USAAF.
2. This Air Force will commit all possible A/C in support of the ground effort at MYITKYINA on D, D plus 1, and Plus 2 days.
3. a. 3rd Bomb Squadron (M) CACW, all attack target X at MYITKYINA on D day. Rendezvous with 12th Bomb Group (M) and 490th Bomb Squadron (M); Rendezvous Point: MOGAUNG (SC 6437); altitude 3,000 feet, time, H hour minus 15 min. Time over target: H hour. Bomb loading: 500 lb GP’s, S-11 second delay tail fuses. Altitude of attack: 3,000 feet; type of formation: column of flights. Lead squadron of formation. After attack, return to base, rearm and refuel in minimum time and return to rendezvous point to repeat mission.
b. 490th Bomb Squadron (M) will attack target X at MYITKYINA on D day. Rendezvous with 12th Bomb Group (M) and 3rd Bomb Squadron (M) CACW; Rendezvous point: MOGAUNG (SC 6437); altitude, 4,000 feet; time, H hour minus 15 min. Time over target: H hour plus 4 minutes. Bomb loading: 500 lb. GP’s, 8-11 second delay tail fuses. Altitude of attack: 4,000 feet. Type of squadron formation: Column of flights. Place in formation: follow 3rd Bomb Squadron. Return to home base.
c. 12th Bomb Group (M) will attack target X at MYITKYINA on D day. Rendezvous with 3rd Bomb Squadron (M) and 490th Bonb Squadron (M); Rendezvous point: MOGAUNG (SC 6437); altitude: 5,000 feet; time: H H hour minus 15 min. Time over target: H hour plus 8 minutes, 2 minute intervals between squadrons. Bomb loading: 500 lb. GP’s, 8-11 second delay tail fuses. Altitude of attack: 3,000 feet. Type formation: Column of flights. Place in formation: Lead squadron of Group to follow 490th Bomb Squadron (M).
d. 20th Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron will provide 1 P-40 type A/C at MYITKYINA equipped wit oblique camera and photograph bomb impact of B025 units from H hour to H hour plus 20 minutes on D day (Note: 8-11 second delay fusing).
e. Advanced Echelon will provide two P-51 A/C at MYITKYINA on D day, equipped with smoke tanks and be prepared to lay smoke screen on call.
f. The 80th Fighter Group will provide:
(1) Detachment of 12 P-40 A/C based at MYITKYINA attack target X at H hour plus 25 minutes. Bomb load: 1 each, 75 gallon belly tank containing fire bomb mixture and 2 each 100 lb incendiaries. After initial effort of P-40’s, 4 ship flights will shuttle bomb target X with fire bombs until supply exhausted, then load 500 lb. and/or 250 lb. 1/10 second nose, 8-11 second tail fuses. Orbit area: West MYITKYINA at 3,000 feet.
(2) 12 A/C Valley Alert throughout D, D plus 1, and D plus 2 days.
(3) 8 A/C overlapping patrol MOGAUNG (SC 6437) - INDAWGYI LAKE (SB 9602) beginning at H hour minus 30 minutes.
(4) 4 A.C overlapping patrol KAZU (SD 3118) - TAHONA (SH 8292) beginning at H hour minus 30 minutes.
g. The 311th Fighter Group will provide:
(1) 16 A/C TINGKAWK SAKAN to attack target X on D day. Time: Hour plus 31 minutes. Orbit point: South of MYITKYINA at 6,000 feet.
(2) 7 A/C, DINJAN to attack target X on D day. Time: H hour plus 35 minutes. Orbit point: North of MYITKYINA at 7,000 feet.
(3) 7 A/C, MOHANBARI to attack target X on D day. Time: H hour plus 39 minutes. Orbit point: North of MYITKYINA at 6,000 feet.
(4) 16 A/C, TINGKAWK SAKAN to attack target X on D day. Time: Hour plus 43 minutes. Orbit point: South of MYITKYINA at 7,000 feet.
(5) All A/C will carry 2 each, 500 lb. GP;s, 1/10 second nose, 8-11 second tail fuses. On completion of initial effort, A/C will return to base rearm and refuel, returning to orbit points in 4 ship flights for shuttle bombing reminder of D day.
x. (1) All units will be prepared to repeat same schedule on D plus 1 and D plus 2 days.
(2) No A/C all bomb on initial or subsequent missions without clearance obtained from ground control.
(3) No A/C will strafe except under direction of ground control.

5. a. Common frequency for this effort will be 4815 kcs.
b. All units will check with Ground 21 on arrival at rendezvous points. Minimum conversation at all times.
c. Command Post for air effort will be Ground 21 at MYITKYINA.

1. The perimeter of friendly troops around MYITKYINA, as of 1200 hrs 26 July, was as follows:
River bank at K.6/14.0 to JK.6/14.0 to road at J.2/13.5. Along road to H.1/14.5 and H.0/16/0 to H.1/16.3 to H.0/17.0. Thence to I.0/18/0 to I.7/18.5, to road and along road North to small stream at I.6/19.7 to J.0/21.0. Along the light patch on curve to J.6/22.0 to M.0/23.0, thence to river bank at N.6/23.1.
The towns of NYAUNGTALAW, MAINGNA, AND WAINGMAW are still in Japanese hands. In the case of the latter two towns our patrols are operating close to the N. and S. edged of the towns, respectively.
2. Centers of principal Japanese resistance are described as follows, by target numbers:
Target #1 NYAUNGTALAW — M.4/16.2 along edge of wooded area to L.8/16.2, then North along island bank to N.1/17.1 to M.6/17.0, thence along bank to M.4/16.1.
Target #2 MAINGNA — P.0/205 to river bank at 0.4/20.5, thence along river bank to 0.6/21.5 to P.1/21.4 to P.0/20.5.
Target 3 WAINGMAW — Q.0/8.0 to P.0/9.0 to P.7/9.0 to Q.0/8.0.
Target #4 K.3/16.8 to K.8/16.7 to K.6/14.6 to K.0/15.3 ro K.3/16.8.
